The Bridge Integrated Care Hub’s new permanent site in Belleville is nearing completion as its leadership reports making progress, including helping clients to find housing.

Hub officials on Friday gave news media a tour of The Bridge’s future home at 1 Alhambra Sq. A separate tour for municipal, provincial, and federal politicians was to follow.

“The community is really, really invested in this, either negatively or positively … so we want to make sure that we do our best to communicate everything along the way,” Bridge director Ashley Vader said in a pre-tour telephone interview.

She said the Alhambra building “is starting to look like an actual program space.”

The hub’s temporary site at 125 South Church St. is now staffed fully, she said, and making gains.

“We’re seeing people get housed,” Vader said on the tour.

“We’re seeing people get adequate health care support in-space so that we’re reducing emergency department use. Our nurses are actively in training to do wound care specific to our homeless community. That’s a huge preventative measure.”
